It is undoubtedly the most beautiful place in the Tassili
N’Ajjer. Its dunes (blond and reddish), its
sandstone cathedrals, arches, and rock paintings
do not leave anyone indifferent. What makes the
reputation of Tadrart Rouge is the happy combination
of the white and yellow-orange dune landscapes of
Tin Merzouga and its extremely rugged plateau.
Although Tadrart contains numerous and magnificent
rock paintings, this region is especially famous
for being home to the most beautiful engravings,
without a doubt, from the so-called pastoral period.
You can even find fish (on the rock walls, of course).
The prehistoric Tassili artists seemed to have an almost
perfect knowledge of aquatic fauna: one fish is
engraved in profile and another from an aerial view.
The indescribable beauty of Tadrart evokes the words of the great French poet Charles Baudelaire "there, all is order and beauty, luxury, calm and pleasure."
